For skaters in kindergarten and above (usually 6y and above), Learn to Skate USA Basic Skills, is the first step in skating curriculum that includes six levels (Basic 1-6). The first stage of skills forms a strong foundation for your skaters to explore the world of skating. All will progress at their own pace working toward mastering each skill. Skaters interested in pursuing figure skating further then move onto Free Skate skating curriculum.
Mandatory Fees
All skates must be a current member of US Figure Skating as Learn to Skate USA members as well as a current Union Arena Skating Club member. The annual membership runs from July 1 - June 30th and provides basic membership to the national organization and sports accident insurance.
Learn to Skate USA Fee… $18.00
Union Arena club fee... $ 10.00
Evaluations
Coaches will conduct evaluations during the last week of class in order to determine placement for the next session. If a skater is ready to advance before the given evaluation date, coaches will arrange to have an earlier evaluation. We ask families to support our coaches in the evaluation process and understand that we all learn and skate at our own pace.
